Plans for a new free school in Reading

We're being asked for our thoughts on plans for a new free school in West Reading.

The Junior school - which would be run by parents and a charity, would be one of the first free schools to open in the country.

Questionnaires have been posted though the doors of people living around Brownlow Road, where the school would be based.

If it gets the green light from the Department of Education it would be run by parents and a charity and would be the sister school to All Saints Infants.

Jane Soanes is from the charity behind the plans, and said, "We're asking people what they think about the school site, and also the curriculum we offer at the school.

"Also what do parents and people think the emphasis should be on, is it on core skills of maths and english or is it about having a very creative curriculum.

"All Saints is the only stand alone infant school in Reading, and parents have experienced problems over the last couple of years, finding places for their children to go when they leave All Saints at the end of year 2, so parents have been campaigning for a while to set up an alternative school."
