The Ferryboat

The thriving Ferryboat is located just over the toll bridge at Whitchurch-on-Thames near Pangbourne, aptly named after the vessel that used to carry people across the Thames before the bridge was built, and is set in a picturesque village on the edge of an Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty.

Current owner and chef David Holmes took over The Ferryboat in 2007 and has since carefully created a modern bistro-feel restaurant, whilst retaining the traditional attractions of a local pub.

A vibrant yet comfortable bar area serves three traditional ales to enjoy by the log-burning fire, and a 40-cover adjoining restaurant serves à la carte and fresh specials menus. Takeaway or eat-in pizzas are cooked in a traditional stone-based oven.

The Ferryboat is a great place to meet, drink and enjoy some excellent food lunch time or evenings.

Top tip: Book early for Friday and Saturday evenings.
